Mercy Macharia has a Ph.D in plant biology and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna working on a project in Mozambique utilizing genomics for tackling food insecurity in smallholder farmer communities in the context of the climate crisis. She has previous experience in east and central Africa, working closely with students and researchers from universities/ National research institutes to develop their capacity in utilizing bioscience tools to address problems facing small holder farmers.
